Posted by sleepyguy in Prescription Sleep Medicine on December 07th, 2010
Who has not had some angst about their acne? Whether you are just hitting your teens or are adult, acne can be a problem. There are so many acne treatment products out on the market. How do you know which one will work best for you? It is easy to get confused when presented with numerous choices; all saying their treatment is the best and only treatment for acne.
However, when looking for solutions for your acne problem, a natural acne treatment can be the option for you. With natural acne treatments, it is best to look for a product that can eliminate acne in a simple way that is a permanent solution and is backed by a guarantee. A natural solution also treats the acne in an effective, gentler way than other products that can damage the skin with caustic, chemical based etchers that can cause your skin more harm than good.
When looking for the right natural acne treatment, it is important that many types of acne can be addressed, such as pimples or zits, blackheads and whiteheads, cystic acne (a painful form of acne that can lead to scarring) and bodily acne. It is also important that it treats both teenage and adult acne. In addition, it is also recommended to find a product that will address chronic oily skin without stripping your skin of its necessary oils.
What many people are finding out when looking for their best acne treatment option is that many of the products touted in infomercials, products found in your local drugstore and high-end products produced by major cosmetic manufacturers; do not offer natural acne treatment. These are not offered except in rare cases and their “natural” products may still contain chemicals.
Here are some of the benefits of natural acne treatments:
• Unlike other products, there are no side effects and can be used at any time.
• The treatment is based on finding solutions to the problem by treating the acne both externally and internally.
Acne can often be caused by hormonal imbalance which is not addressed by OTC (over the counter) acne treatments.
• The goal is to eliminate acne breakout completely. Many OTC products may say that, however it is in their best interest to keep you on their program and keep the sales rolling.
• It does not cause any scars.
• Natural treatments typically cost much less than OTC or famous label brands.
The focus of a good natural acne treatment plan should be on nutrition and 100 percent natural techniques. By following the plan you can repair and renew your skin and get rid of embarrassing acne scarring. By paying attention to your diet and learning what to use to wash your skin and the best method to do it, clear, radiant skin is possible. You can attain skin that you are proud to have and if you are an adult with acne, you can acquire a more youthful appearance rather than just looking like you are reentering puberty.
What is the Best Gout Treatment and Do Natural Supplements Really Help Alleviate Gout Symptoms?
Posted by sleepyguy in Prescription Sleep Medicine on November 07th, 2010
The answer to the second question is that Natural Gout Supplements do work.
For centuries people have taken natural substances to treat gout. One old time home remedy involved eating dozens of cherries. Chemicals found in cherries were seen as a natural gout supplement.
How about a quart of French bean juice? It used to be considered the best way to treat gout symptoms.
An apple a day? It was once thought to keep the gout away.
The all-banana diet became a favorite treatment option as well.
All of these foods were thought to have an impact on uric acid. Gout occurs when the kidneys are not getting rid of uric acid. Excess uric acid crystals build up in knees, ankles and most often big toes. Is it any wonder the pain of gout is excruciating?
The demand for the best gout treatment led to pharmaceuticals to lessen the pain and symptoms. Doctors developed chemicals to improve kidney function.
Just as manufactured drugs impact kidney function, scientists also know kidneys respond to natural supplements for getting rid of u. acid before it collects in joints. Natural medicine draws directly on the rich history of ingesting natural foods.
Now back to the first question: what is the best gout treatment? Any regimen to encourage the kidneys to do what comes naturally–to eliminate uric acid-is the best treatment choice. Natural supplements have been shown to be effective in promoting a good kidney function while also impacting the unpredictable, sharp and debilitating pain of gout.
Think of supplements as a convenient replacement for boxes of cherries and bowls of bean juice.
Popular Injectables : Restylane, Botox, And Juvederm

In recent years, several excellent wrinkle reducing options have been created as an alternative to full surgical face lifts. The most popular and least invasive include injectables like Restylane, Botox, and Juvederm.
Restylane
Restylane is very effective in plumping and sculpting lips, reducing facial wrinkles and improving the overall fullness of the facial tissue. It has been on the market since December 2003 when it was approved by the United States <a href=”http://www.fda.gov/” rel=”nofollow”>Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and it offers some of the longest lasting results among injectables on the market today.
It is a substance composed of non-animal based hyaluronic acid in a clear liquid gel form. It is administered by applying local anesthesia, and then injecting Restylane into the lips, mouth, nose, or other skin tissue. Some people do experience some discomfort during needle insertion.
This treatment option is usually best suited for those between 35 and 60 years old and has a great success rate for improving deep wrinkles and fine lines. Restylane is injected under the skin and the substance helps to plump up the underlying tissue producing a face with more volume in the lips, and cheeks, and wherever it inserted.
The results can be readily apparent after a week, but there may be some swelling for a day or two after the procedure. Most patients will be extra sensitive to sunlight and UV exposure so they will be cautioned to stay out of the sun. While the results are stunning, they are not permanent and future treatments will be needed to maintain the desired effect.
Botox
Botox is the brand name for the botulinum toxin, it has now become the number one cosmetic procedure performed in the U.S. and it is very effective in softening the look of crow’s feet, frown lines, and lines between the eyebrows. Botox is injected beneath the facial skin and it paralyzes the muscles in the face that cause the deep wrinkles. The injection sites are marked carefully as the placement of the toxin is very critical to the success of the treatment.
After all the Botox is administered, which takes about 20 minutes or less, the patient is free to go home, back to work, or anywhere she like because there is no down time or recovery period. The results may take a week to be fully visible, but the will be dramatic although temporary. Botox results last about three to four months and treatments must be repeated about that often to retain the less-wrinkled look.
Juvederm
Juvederm is another popular filler injectable that can reduce facial wrinkles, especially the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth. It was approved by the FDA in June 2006 and is a gel implant made up of hyaluronic acid like Restylane. Juvederm also adds volume to your face where time and aging have caused it to sink or sag.
This filler is available in three formulas, each specifically designed to target a particular area of the face. One targets fine lines like crow’s feet, another reduced forehead wrinkles and another is good for the nasolabial folds as well as the lips and cheek shapes. Juvederm effects can last for six to nine months, but additional treatments will be necessary at that point to continue to reduce wrinkles and maintain facial volume.
