10 Tips To Treat Toothaches

We all hate toothaches. The searing pain a bad tooth can cause is something that we don’t want to experience much too often. Unfortunately, toothaches have a knack of knocking on our doors (or teeth to put it frankly) during the most inopportune times. 1. Take your Medicine

2. Rinse Regularly

3. Get the Garlic Going

Though a little bit out of the ordinary, try chewing a clove of garlic. Best to do this every morning. However, try not to overdo with the garlic-chewing. Unless of course bad breath appeals to you.

4. Apply Garlic and Salt

Allicin, garlic’s antibacterial compound, coupled with a pinch of rock salt are said to be very helpful in stopping bacteria which causes toothache. Mash the two agents together and apply to the site of the toothache.

5. Apply Cold Compress

You don’t have to be handy with landau scrubs to get this one right. Simply apply the cold compress to the side of the cheek and you’re all set.

6. Numbing with a Desensitizing Agent

While this particular remedy will not entirely eliminate a toothache, it is regarded as a temporary relief as the tooth-desensitizing agent can numb a particularly painful area for a certain period of time.

7. Onion, Anyone?

This may seem unpleasant, but chewing onions is one of the best ways to kill bacteria which causes toothaches.

8. Rinse with Water

In order to avoid aggravating your toothache even more, try to remove any food debris by rinsing our mouth with water. Naturally, brushing one’s teeth will speed up the process of dislodging any foreign object that can cause further stress to your teeth.

9. Wax is the Way to Go

10. Keep your Head Up

Yes, toothaches must not let you down. But what we really mean by “keeping your head up” is elevating one’s head—literally. This simple action can effectively reduce the pressure to the affected tooth and the surrounding area.

Remember, if none of these remedies was able to eliminate or reduce the pain, then it’s time to visit your dentist. Best if you could nip this in the bud and avoid complications in the future.

Even though you should try to avoid addictive narcotics, you also have the option of taking mild pain killers if the pain is really severe.

Other complimentary treatments like massage therapies in pain management can also prove to be effective, as it can relieve sore stiff muscles. Some people have even tried acupuncture, hypnosis, and physiotherapy to cure severe chronic injuries. Whichever method you choose, the important thing is that it is practical and successful in pain management.
