As one who is opening their own practice, it’s important to build a rapport amongst professionals to help build your business. It’s especially important to build a relationship with a medical store, one that offers numerous items from incontinent supplies to wheel chairs. Building such a relationship with a medical supply store inevitably saves you money all the while getting the supplies your practice needs.
The partnership can come in a number of different ways, but the most common is through a club where members are privy to the following benefits:
Discounts on qualified orders
These benefits may be applied to other discounts and offers.
Advanced notice of sales and specials
Purchase information is also given in cases like this.
A health care update with additional offers for members
It is always important to know what’s going on in the health care world beyond your own practice.
All of the above are great deals to help you save money on your health products, but it will also help you save money for your business. The benefits go beyond the products.
Finding a quality medical store should not be difficult. The medical supply store of choice should have an abundance of supplies, but also have the ability to order at any place, any time because you never know when the need should arise.
It is true that not all medical supply stores are the same. Look for one that offers you benefits and high quality products. You will find lasting benefits if you partner with a medical supply store.
Over the Counter Medications - Are They Safe?
Posted by sleepyguy in Prescription Sleep Medicine on April 25th, 2010
With more and more strains of flu and colds going around, more and more kids are coming down with these common colds and flus. We all want our kids to get better as quick as possible. Most of us rush down to the local drug store and buy an over the counter cough and cold medicine to help deal with the symptoms. What most people do not realize is that these common and often overused medications are doing our kids more harm than good.
Not only are these medications toxic and dangerous, there is no substantial evidence that they are effective. In the past 50 years, there have been only 11 studies on the effect these medications have on children. Yet none of these studies show that these over the counter medications help cough and cold symptoms at all.
Additionally, there have been many cases where children have gotten sick and even died from using these medications. These recent cases pressed the FDA to pull infant doses of these medications off the shelves. The FDA has also recommended that kids under the age of six should not use over the counter medications for cough and cold. There are indications that teenagers may be added. While this is a start to addressing this serious problem, that is simply not enough. There is also no evidence that over the counter medications are effective in adults.
The best way to cure a common cold is to let nature run its course. Most colds will go away within seven days without the use of any medication. The most effective treatment for a cold is to drink plenty of warm liquids and get lots of rest. We have several whole food supplements that we recommend that are safe and effective for all ages. Their unique formulas can help boost the immune system and get rid of your cold and flu symptoms faster. Schedule an appointment today for our nutritional scan to see what supplements would benefit you the most.
Constipated? It Could Be Your Medication
Posted by sleepyguy in Prescription Sleep Medicine on April 25th, 2010
Being constipated is something that almost everyone can suffer from at some time or another. Constipation occurs when stool or waste material moves too slowly through the large intestine. Feces that stay in the bowel too long before elimination become hard and dry. This results in difficult, painful, and infrequent bowel movements. In most cases, constipation is harmless. However it can lead to further health complications and more serious problems.
Many medications can cause constipation, including prescription and nonprescription drugs. The list below includes commonly prescribed drugs and common over-the-counter drugs that may promote constipation. Be aware that there are many other drugs not listed below that may cause constipation. If you notice the development of constipation with the use of a medication, this should be brought to the attention of your physician.
A list of some of the medications that can cause Constipation are:
- anti-convulsants used for epilepsy
- anti-depressants
- diuretics
- heart medications such as calcium-channel blockers
- iron supplements
- pain medications such as codeine and morphine
- some cough and cold medications containing dextromethorphan
- some antacids
Using Laxatives to treat Constipation can also have some unexpected affects because over-use of laxatives eventually makes the bowels less sensitive to the need to eliminate feces and can cause chronic constipation. The bowels become dependent on laxatives to work, and this can lead to bowel distension.
Frequently being constipated by taking certain medications can turn out to be a much bigger problem than the original problem which required you to take the medication in the first instance. This can lead to more stress and a whole host of problems that you were not expecting to encounter. It is therefore important to find a constipation remedy fast and one that works for you.
