People suffering from external hemorrhoids must be constantly thinking about how to get rid of them. There are numerous alternatives available for treating external hemorrhoids. These options range from simple home remedies to surgical procedures to minimal invasive procedures.

Most of the cases of external hemorrhoids can be treated with the help of dietary changes, topical treatments, non-surgical treatments and Sitz baths. Though, in few cases where a greater degree of prolapse has occurred, surgery may be required.

External Hemorrhoids can be got rid off in the below mentioned ways:-

? In crease intake of dietary fiber

? Increase intake of fruits, vegetables and water.

? Apply ice to the affected area

? Suppositories, gels, creams, ointments help in relieving the pain and swelling.

? Soak the affected area in warm water for about 10-15 minutes. This should be done thrice a day.

? Regularize bowel movements.

? Increase intake of Bioflavonoids which help in decreasing anal discomfort, pain, and anal discharge.

? Onion juice is quite effective for painful and bleeding hemorrhoids.

? Dried mango seeds should be taken in the powder form two or three times a day. It eases the pain while passing stool.

? Perform regular exercises. Avoid strenuous exercises.

Surgical Options:-

1) Haemorrhoidectomy - Here the entire hemorrhoid is removed. This type of surgery is the most effective and complete way of extracting hemorrhoids, but it has the maximum risk of complications.

2) Stapled Hemorrhoidopexy or Stapled hemorrhoidectomy - This technique utilizes a circular stapling device to remove the hemorrhoidal tissue. The prolapsed tissue is removed, while the remaining tissue is stapled. This surgery involves reduced pain as compared to hemorrhoidectomy. As compared to hemorrhoidectomy, stapling is associated with a greater risk of recurrence.

3) Laser Surgery - Laser light is used to target the external hemorrhoids and completely remove it. This surgery involves reduced pain and discomfort, less medication and faster healing.

Minimal Invasive Procedures:-

1) Rubber band Ligation - In this procedure, the external hemorrhoids is tied off at its base, the blood supply to the tissue is cut off and finally the hemorrhoidal tissues wither and fall away.

2) Sclerotherapy - In this procedure, a chemical is injected which obstructs the blood flow to the hemorrhoidal tissue and is generally indicated in treating small hemorrhoids.

3) Infrared coagulation - Infra red light or heat is used to burn the hemorrhoidal tissue to remove them. Coagulation has few side effects but increased chances of recurrence.

4) Cryotherapy - Here the hemorrhoid is frozen.

Hence, depending on the intensity and severity of the external hemorrhoids, the option to get rid of the external hemorrhoids can be decided by the physician.
