Hair dullness might at first sound like too petty a concern as to warrant a ‘treatment.’ The truth of the matter, however, is that hair dullness can be a very distressing situation to the image conscious person; a person who takes great care to polish their image on every other respect, only to be let down by their dull hair. Such dull hair, after all tends to be leave the impression that it is not well taken care of – whereas the truth of the matter is that the owner may be taking extremely good care of it, with only the hair strands being unreceptive of such care.

You wouldn’t also assume that a person going through the distress caused by hair dullness is being frivolous, when you take into consideration the fact that a person’s hair tends to be the very first thing we notice whenever we meet them, as we try to (subconsciously) create an opinion about them in our minds. At this point, hair dullness can see an otherwise impeccably presented person lose a considerable number of precious marks.

So getting into the natural hair treatment for dullness (having seen its importance), the pre-requisites for it include a good tail-comb, some camphor, a swath of cotton, a bit of shampoo, oil and a massager, especially the vibrating variety. Having a handy bowl for heating the oil would also be important.

So the treatment involves heating the oil in the bowl mentioned and then passing the vibrating massager all over the scalp to clear it of ‘impurities’ like dandruff, as the first steps and pre-requisites to it. That done, the swath of cotton mentioned earlier is oiled and used to apply the oil all over the hair, ideally a section at a time. The head should then be massaged for a period of time (ideally continually) for like 10 minutes, before steaming the hair for yet another five minutes while still massaging it. After all this, the hair should be shampooed and dried – and the hair dullness problem should have been cleared.

Of course, the effects of a treatment like this will only hold for only so long, so that it is essential to renew the look (with another similar treatment) after about a fortnight or three weeks; lest the dull look you so much abhor return to haunt you again.

The beauty of the natural hair treatment for dullness described is that it is natural in the real sense of the word (in that no major synthetic formulation besides the shampoo is used in effecting it) – which translates to that it is absolutely side-effect free. Additionally, unlike other natural hair treatment options whose effects tend to take ages to manifest, the effects of this particular treatment are likely to be already manifest the very next day. Incidentally, this natural hair treatment for dullness also helps with the type of problems where one has their hair falling out at alarming rates, since the core cause for such hair fall out tends to be (more often than not) the very same core cause behind hair dullness, which this treatment addresses quite conclusively.

Methotrexate (MTX) is a prescription treatment taken most often for rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. The great benefit of taking this medication is the dramatic improvement for most patients in the first couple of months and steady improvement thereafter.

The downside with MTX is that there is a chance of developing cirrosis of the liver. Cirrhosis is scarring of the liver and poor liver function as a result of chronic liver disease. Some symptoms of cirrhosis include:

  • Bleeding hemorrhoids
  • Confusion
  • Impotence and loss of interest in sex
  • Jaundice
  • Nausea and throwing up
  • Vomiting blood
  • Swelling of the legs
  • Fevers
  • Decrease in urine
  • Nosebleed or bleeding gums
  • Pale or clay colored stools

While MTX is a potent drug, over the last 10 years, it has proved safer than expected. The dosage level for arthritis is fairly small, therefore bad reactions happen less frequently than was once thought. (Also note that women who are pregnant or planning on becoming pregnant should not take MTX. Men who are planning on having children should also be aware that MTX can cause sterility and birth defects.)

The good news is that there are literally millions of people taking this medication and only a handful will develop liver problems. If you get your blood work done regularly, liver problems will be detected early, allowing you time to find alternatives before it becomes a permanent problem. Most likely, people who develop liver cirrosis while on MTX either haven’t had their blood work done regularly, or they are drinking heavily while on this medication.

Branded Generics and Pharmaceutical Companies

Anybody that knows anything about the pharmaceutical industry knows that generic medicines are at an all time high. With the state of the world economy as it is, drug makers all over the world are losing sales left and right to generic competitors, selling generic versions of the same medicine, but only much cheaper. This is nothing new, but with the recent economic flux, and pharmaceutical drug companies, as well as pharmaceutical consultancy firms going out of business left and right, there is need to take drastic action. And that’s exactly what the drug companies intend to do.

One of the biggest steps that drug companies are trying to take to compete with generic drug makers is to get into the generic drug business themselves. As well as selling their traditional branded medications, they are also looking into selling branded generic drugs as well. The drug companies feel that this is the very best chance to hang on to lost revenue taken by the generic drug companies. This idea of branded generic drugs is also gaining a lot of momentum among consumers. The theory is that in richer, more developed countries, many people may have more loyalty towards certain brands they trust, and might be willing to pay for less expensive generic drugs, if it is by a trusted brand.

Branded generic drugs may also benefit people from poorer countries as well, because many citizens in poorer nations do not trust cheap generic medicine, but if it is from a legitimate brand they can trust, they would be more inclined to buy these medicines. This is big news to drug companies because as we all know, emerging drug markets are gold mines of opportunity in the 21st century. Every drug company on earth is trying to tap into these markets, but the big drug companies might have found their perfect way in. Because these branded drugs are perceived to have better quality in the poorer markets of the world, they will easily be able to compete, if not oust any competition in this region.

What this means to consumers is that branded generic drugs are on the rise. Generic medicine is no longer the enemy to the large pharmaceutical companies, but rather a strong ally instead. This is great news for consumers because this means better quality generic medicine for everyone and more competition in the generic drug business. Competition always means better innovation and lower prices, and that’s only some of what we have to look forward to as branded generic medicine becomes more readily available.
