Treatment ADHD - Coping With ADD
Posted by sleepyguy in Prescription Sleep Medicine on August 07th, 2009
Nutrition plays an extreme role in the determination of ADHD in children. There are some very effective remedies and common mythologies about diet and physical treatment of ADHD are exists. Mostly people want to contribute to the traditional method of treatment such as therapies and drugs, some parents prefer to adopt the newer type of treatment plans, such as flower essence therapy, special massage, dirt, aromatherapy, and other forms of natural ADHD treatment.
Treatment ADHD can be a problematic disorder to handle both for the person suffering from it and the family. There are many remedies available but each has its pros and cons. As an attention deficit disorder sufferer, I have been taking many different kinds of medications both as a child and adult.
I am not a doctor or a psychologist but after so many years of being a “patient” and being a father of a son who has this disorder, I think I am qualified enough to talk about what’s available. Some parents opt for pharmacological treatment, others for alternative options, while there are still others who use a combination of the two treatments.
The most common medications given these days for ADHD are Ritalin, Adderall and Cylert. Most sufferers need some kind of medication to lessen the hyperactive and aggressive behaviors. As with all options, even involving medication have their pros and cons. Though I was not in favor of medicating my son, I did not stop the treatment without discussing it first with his doctor. It was during that discussion I first figured out the pros and cons.
*Pros:*
I found out that medication worked very quickly and it took the doctor just a few days to decide which drug was good for my son. Of course, it involved adjusting the dosage.
The drugs used to treat ADD are not very expensive. These drugs are life-savers for kids and adults whose lives are falling apart because of the disorder.
*Cons:*
Many children do not respond to medication. I was lucky that my son did.
Most drugs have side effects including reduction in appetite, stomach aches and headaches.
When the medication wears off, it can be difficult to manage the kids. However, adults like me usually learn with maturity to handle our emotions.
Out of all the choices that are available, the most popular is an alternative treatment known asbehavior modification. This treatment works very well with children. Of course, I used this treatment for my son with the help of his psychologist. The idea behind ADHD behavior modification is to reward good behavior while discouraging bad behavior by taking away the child’s privileges. For this choice, the child’s behavior is observed for a whole week and then depending on behavior, he is either given a positive mark or a negative mark. If at the end of the week, his marks are positive, he is rewarded and reverse happens when the score is negative.
Of course there are many other choices available besides drugs and behavior modification. As a sufferer, I find relaxation therapy very good to tackle my attention deficit disorder. If you or your child is suffering from this disorder, check out all the things available and then select one that you think is suitable for your needs. Remember, although drugs do have side effects, they can help you and your child, especially if combined with other alternative ADHD treatments.
ADHD Child - Helping Them Cope With ADD

ADHD can affect kids in many different ways. Most wage a constant battle with things that we consider mundane like sitting still, paying attention, staying quiet or being organized. I should know it because I am a father of a child who has ADD children.
They are more common than we would like to believe. In my son’s class there are 30 students and at least two students, excluding my son, have attention deficit disorder. These kids have problems making friends and the saddest part is that the disorder itself is not properly understood.
Most of these children constantly struggle with simple social interactions and are not able to follow social cues. These kids are find it very difficult to make friends and are unable to participate in group activities with other children. My son found it very difficult to take part in any team event as he was constantly being aggressive and fighting with other children. It is not that… they have difficulty to maintain or sustain relationships. They can but one has to be patient and caring with them. This is where the parents or guardians play a major role. I ended up finding ways to help my son so that he could make friends or at least work towards improving his relationships with his peers.
Here are some tips which will help ADHD kids to have meaningful relationships:
What I did was involve my son’s teachers, school counselor, doctor and our priest. I informed them that my son has adha and asked them to help my son improve his relationship with other children. You too can take this step. The adults involved in ADHD kids’ lives have to ensure that they do not belittle the kids in front of other children. All of them love to have some form of structure in their lives. It gives them a semblance of normalcy while going about their daily routine. My son is interested in painting so I enrolled him in a painting class. You should try to see what your child’s interests are and get him involved in group activities. Make sure that the group is small so that he can get individual attention. Inform the group leader about your kid’s condition so that they know how to tackle and deal with him.
ADHD kids feel that they are constantly getting into trouble and no one likes them, not even their parents. It is important to build your kid’s self-esteem. I went about this by constantly telling my son that I love and like him. This helped him to show his positive side more often. In my neighborhood there is a group geared towards offering social skills training to help them. I took advantage of it and got my son enrolled. Meeting on fixed days and time, my son has benefitted from learning how to behave in social settings. You too can try this, if the facility is available in your community.
Day-to-day activities are a constant challenge for ADHD kids and this includes making friends. Remember being able to make friends is important and as parents we should help facilitate this.

Medicine as a science has advanced to far realms in the world of today. With the progress in the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline, the need and demand for more and newer medical equipment is on the rise. This type of equipment includes all equipment that is required in the medical field by doctors and other health professionals. Operating tables, surgical tools, oxygen tanks are just a few items under the umbrella of the broader category of health equipment.
There are some equipment such as dermatological laser equipment, optometry equipment and so on, which do not belong to the category of general medical equipment. These are simply referred to as other types of healthcare equipment. These are as important as general equipment, and come with price tags that are quite hefty. As a result, most general health practitioners and health care professionals look for financing when it comes to purchasing other equipment.
Businesses related to commercial leasing of equipment have grown spectacularly in the last few years. There has been considerable development in this sector and companies are leasing out medical equipment for long and short term periods. What you get depends on the contract with the company you have chosen.
- Commercial equipment financing, as an industry, has seen vast changes over the last decade or so. Many are trying to carve out a niche for themselves, but given the extremely tough competition, this is not an easy accomplishment. Nanotechnology financing and turbine financing are two of the most well known and popular concepts that are catching on.
- Companies are catering especially to dental equipment lease. Medical loans have made it simpler for health care institutions to get equipment. This is a multi-billion dollar industry and more and more companies are stepping in each day, to make the acquisition of medical equipment easy for the health care field.
- Even if banks refuse your application for a loan to get business equipment, you have plenty of other options. You get truck financing, crane loans, turning centers, loan programs, construction equipment, and much, much more.
- It doesn’t matter what you are trying to get the loan for. With equipment financing, small companies get a wide margin of advantage. Capital upfront is minimized. Leasing is a way of fighting against inflation. If you are not looking for perfect equipment, leasing is the best bet you have got.
Other medical equipment is vital for the medical field, speaking broadly. Most health care professionals cannot afford them personally, because of mounting costs. Some financing corporations will lease them out to you, and this procedure is dependable. Since there is understanding on their part, you will gain immediate assistance, both financial and legal. Interest rates are well below market rates. You can repay the loan in monthly installments. You can even apply for the loan online. You will get it disbursed right in the comfort of your own home.
