Is an over the counter yeast infection treatment the answer for a permanent Candida cure? I’m sure there are those, who have been taking medications for years for an infection that keeps coming back, that still hold some hope. As for me, I abandoned hope for medications after one trip too many back to the drug store.

An over the counter yeast infection treatment will never be the long term answer for Candida infections. Why? Well, first of all medications only treat the symptoms and completely ignore the underlying cause of yeast infections. Once I discovered this, the case was over for me. I had to move on to something else.

Why had I put up with those ridiculous side effects for almost 2 years of my life? Once I seriously thought about it, I had to put the blame on myself. I was looking for an answer outside of myself when what I was struggling with was an internal problem.

Relying on an over the counter yeast infection treatment ended the day I decided to take the cure into my own hands. I discover natural yeast infection cures that cost next to nothing, are completely free of side effects, and, most importantly, target and eliminate the underlying cause.

For me, the method involved looking into every aspect of my lifestyle that was a potential contributing factor to my infections. I had to make some changes that were uncomfortable for me at first. But the changes I made have not only permanently cured my infections, but led me to a place where I have I never been happier or healthier. The lesson for me was to never look for the answer in a bottle.

Health and Responsibility

I am usually known for my general oddness, my willingness to partake in a bit of tomfoolery and my strange ways but I have recently been trying to educate myself on issues that are currently going on in the world that are a huge cause for concern and an infringement on our human rights, and when trying to share this information with people have discovered that a majority of them refuse to even listen let alone accept it even when faced with hard facts.

For example, ID cards, micro chipping, constant surveillance from ridiculous numbers of CCTV cameras, the truth about 9/11 and 7/7, oil consumption, the myth of global warming and (and I believe this is the current biggest threat to our human rights) CODEX ALIMENTARIUS - the enforcement by governments around the world of controls set by the WHO and FAO to control our food and particularly our intake of vitamin and mineral supplements. Articles have already been splashed all over the headlines recently claiming that Vitamin supplements cause early death.

I urge anybody with half a brain to realise that the media is a really unreliable source of information due to selective editing and anything you read/hear/watch that has an impact on your lifestyle should be fully researched before stopping taking those high dose vitamin C tablets or the echinacea tincture you’ve been taking after reading an article in the Daily Mail.

Whether or not you believe the flawed and false results found in the studies that were quoted in the articles or not is actually irrelevant because as human beings and residents of the planet earth, surely we have the right to put whatever? we want into our bodies especially when societies of people throughout the world have been successfully using natural therapies and herbs and plants for thousands of years before the? WHO/FAO/NHS was invented.

What this is all saying is that it’s fine to fill yourselves and your children with MSG, GM foods, hydrogenated fats, aspartame, fluoride, refined sugars, meat injected with sub-standard anti-biotics, coke.(do I need to continue?) But it’s not OK to take vitamin supplements to help counteract the effects of our hydroponically grown, pesticide covered, nutrient depleted fruit and vegetables???

And to be quite honest, if there was any truth in it (which I absolutely do not believe that there is) I’d rather die a few years earlier and have had a good quality of life than spend years being pumped with all manner of medications (the third biggest killer in the UK after heart disease and cancer) to no ones benefit but pharmaceutical companies. And all this is being done under the pretense that it is for our own good. It’s insane!

Of course this is just the tip of the iceberg, there are all sorts of horrible things going on in the world and you don’t have to look very hard to find them. The problem with people generally is that they don’t want to know what’s going on because with knowledge comes responsibility and nobody wants that do they??

But, if you have any interest in protecting your human rights don’t take my word for it, look for yourself, there is any amount of information on the Internet. Gather it all, absorb it and decide for yourself.

Although I am far from being an expert on the subject, I feel it is irresponsible not to share this information with people, and you can judge me in whatever way you like if you read this, I don’t care but please just have a look and (in the words of Old Gregg) make an assessment.

Rant over for now.

In the course of researching the topic of swine flu, I came across this article and thought it would be appropriate to include it.

When our kids are suffering with a cold, it’s pretty common for parents to reach for the over-the-counter bottle of cough syrup or cold medications. But recently both the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have issued guidelines regarding cold and cough medications that may surprise you.

The MHRA issued an advisory announcing that cough and cold medications do not work on children ages 6 to 12. In fact, the MHRA advisory went on to note that such medicines may even cause harmful side effects, such as trouble sleeping and hallucinations.

Similarly, the U.S. FDA issued a new guideline recommending that children age 2 and under no longer be given cold and cough medicines because they are not effective and they may cause dangerous side effects.

What should parents do instead? Of course, be sure to consult with a physician to make sure something more serious than the common cold isn’t at work. Then, consider some natural remedies to help a sick child feel better:

- Chicken soup. Yes, it’s a cliche, but this remedy seems to have some validity. Studies have shown that chicken soup can actually help ease the symptoms of respiratory-tract infections.

- Try treating a cough with honey. My mother would love this, as she typically treated a cough with this home remedy. And studies support that it’s actually more effective than over-the-counter medicines. Try mixing it with a little warm water or non-caffeinated herbal tea. NOTE: Be sure never to give honey to a child under the age of one year old, as babies face a risk of botulism from consuming honey.

- Use saline nose drops or sprays. This is a natural remedy and alternative to medications and can help open up blocked nasal passages.

- Use a cool-mist humidifier. By increasing the humidity in the child’s room, this can also help alleviate congestion and help the child breathe easier.

- Plenty of rest. Again, a bit of a cliche but true. A child with a well-rested body is better able to fight off an illness. You can even encourage a sick child to rest by darkening the room, giving a back rub, even playing some soothing music in the background.

A new study shows that 25% of the elderly who are in home care have reactions to prescribed drugs. This is ONE in FOUR elderly that have REPORTED drug reactions!!

The elderly, the report states, are now taking 6 or more different prescribed drugs on a daily basis!

In contrast to the growing media trend of reporting reactions due to ERRORS in drug prescribing, these are “properly” prescribed medications. Yet 25% of our most vulnerable population is having reactions to the drugs that are being properly prescribed for their medical conditions. Having been an Emergency Room nurse for many years, it is my job to find out what medications people are taking and to write it down for their medical chart. I can attest to the fact that many of our elderly are taking even MORE drugs than that- sometimes upwards of 12 or 15 drugs per day!

“Medication side effects are the #4 leading cause of death in the U.S. annually” (JAMA 1998)

This would seem to be an impossible amount of prescription medications for a population who often has memory issues and difficulty even opening the bottles. My experiences in the emergency department leads me to believe that these adverse effects are SERIOUS issues. We’re not talking simply a case of nausea here. A case of nausea, in an elderly person, often leads to days of vomiting and a trip to the emergency room for dehydration and a urinary tract infection.

A case of constipation can lead to abdominal surgery from a bowel perforation or a blocked intestine. Dizziness or diarrhea can lead to a fall, which can lead to a broken hip from which they will never recover. If the alternative health community reported that 25% of anyone had a reaction to anything that they did- be it giving supplements, doing acupuncture or chiropractic treatments- the FDA would investigate and put them out of business immediately.

In fact in the alternative community, a few people getting sick from ONE poorly prepared batch of supplements from ONE specific company is enough to take away access to that supplement forever- as was the case with the amino acid supplement Tryptophan.

But for the AMA, drug reactions in 25% of a population is just business as usual.

Instead of this study being a call to action to the medical industry to change their prescribing practices in the elderly- as usual, it becomes a reason to add more regulations to home care provider agencies- which doesn’t SOLVE the problem at all and only adds more paperwork and more cost to health care. While seniors definitely need medical care, there are MUCH better natural alternatives than prescription drugs in MOST cases:

1) Ensuring proper Vitamin D levels- a practice that is NOT done by the vast majority of physicians in the US- has been shown to not only prevent falls in the elderly, but also to help decrease blood pressure, normalize blood sugars, prevent heart disease and relieve depression. And it can be given in ONE very large dose twice yearly in the doctor’s office (as it’s done in other countries simply to PREVENT deficiency)

2) There are hundreds of studies on the use of nuts and fatty acids present naturally in foods to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol.

3) Fiber can not only help with high cholesterol levels and blood pressure, but prevent constipation AND diarrhea

4) Regular exercise promotes heart health, blood pressure reduction, increased bone density, depression reduction and prevents constipation.

Just these 4 simple things would probably eliminate the need for 4 to 5 different drugs that seniors take for: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, depression and constipation.

It is NOT normal to be taking drugs as we get older- yet we are surprised to hear about a senior who is NOT taking medications. Since most most chronic medical problems are preventable with lifestyle changes, our society should be shocked to hear when someone DOES have to take a prescription medication!!

It is not surprising to know that millions of children are taking ADHD drugs considering the millions and still rising number of children diagnosed to have the disorder. It is sad to note that at a young age, these children already have to contend with the hassles of taking drugs and the many potential effects that can rise from them.

ADHD drugs are effective in treating the disorder; if not, they should not have been used for several years now. However, in some cases, these drugs cause potential side effects to the individuals taking them - side effects which may not only aggravate the inconvenience felt by the ADHD patient but may also likely put them at risk.

What are the effects of ADHD drugs on children? Aside from their potential benefits, ADHD drugs may also cause some other problems on children with ADHD. Most of these problems, which are side effects of the drugs, are mild but there could also be adverse side effects.

Some of the many effects of ADHD drugs on children are the following:

? Stomach ache. This usually occurs during the first hour of taking the drug. It is advised that children be encouraged to eat first before taking any medication. Refrain from giving a child any medication when his stomach is empty.

? Sleep problems. This is a common effect of ADHD drugs. This can be curbed by lowering the dose of the drug or by changing the medication (according to the doctor’s prescription, of course!). In addition, consistent sleep routines and a glass of warm milk may help.

? Decrease in appetite may also result after taking medication. You can help prevent this by encouraging your child to eat first before giving him any ADHD medication. It would be best if the child is to take medication only after meals.

? Weight loss may also occur while the child is under medications. This may be preceded with and may result from loss of appetite.

? Tics may also result from the intake of medications.

? Hallucinations. This is one adverse side effect of drugs. This is a condition where children may have imaginary occurrences such as having crawling spiders on their body.

? Drug dependency. On some occasions, children under medications become dependent on the drug. Worse, they may be predisposed to taking more addictive substances such as cocaine and other street drugs.

? Growth retardation may also result from taking ADHD drugs.

? Suicidal tendencies. Some children, teenagers in particular, have been found to develop suicidal tendencies after taking ADHD drugs. This is one of the worst effects of ADHD drugs on children.

Not all of these side effects may be felt by an ADHD child under medications and not all ADHD children taking ADHD drugs may feel any of these side effects. There are children who respond well to medications without feeling any side effects from drugs. However, if you are still wary of giving your child any medication, you can ask your doctor about potential alternative methods of treatment. You may also try homeopathic remedies. Homeopathic remedies may be effective in the treatment of ADHD in children especially when used for a long period.
